It doesn't pay to get in a rush...
One would think that I would know better after all these years but it just doesn't pay to get in a rush. I just made a mini quilt top that looks like it could have been my first effort. It's that bad. I knew I wasn't taking the time to do it right and it certainly shows. So, I'll start over and try to sew accurately next time.
I missed being with the quilting group last night. Stormy weather got in the way. If nothing interferes next week I plan to bring some appetizers - I'm testing the recipe for the first time and need some guinea pigs to taste test them.
Sharon's and Angela's Doodle BOM examples are pretty! Good workmanship too. Thanks for sharing.
I bought some stick-on stuff that's supposed to keep rotary rulers from slipping but I still like my stick-on sandpaper dots the best. Some of mine are so old they have begun to fall off so I'm replacing them today. Using my single hole punch I made about 200 dots last night and will stick them on the back of my rulers today using a straight pin to pick off the paper backing so the glue will stick to the rulers. It's a little tedious but to me it's worth the time - especially when I'm making miniatures. In a day or two I hope to begin my mini-quilt prize for the spring retreat. Hope everyone has a productive week.

My boost of energy that arrived with the new year is paying off. I have been organizing all the clipped articles I've been saving for years, pictures of quilts, how-to's, etc into binders. Tuesday night I started cutting scraps and small pieces into shapes I can actually use somehow. While going through fabric stacks I ran across some fabric I have wanted to use in a "Cracker" baby quilt for a long time. Yesterday I finished the Cracker Baby quilt top! It's foundation paper pieced 6" blocks = 36 X 36. I "found" about 7 mini-quilts that need finished - sewed the binding on one today and will finish it by hand tonight. Oh yes, I finished quilting and binding a star mini-quilt last night.
Can't wait to get started again tomorrow!

Completed Baby Bricks Top
See, I really did finish my Stacked Baby Bricks Top. The blue panels stand out a little more than I expected but I'm okay with it. It's 78" X 94" and there are 44 baby bricks in each stack.
I've spent a couple of days working on my "Farmer's Wife" blocks. I think it's going to be a much smaller project than I originally intended.
Today I picked through some of my smaller pieces of fabric and selected quite a few to take to Tuesday night quilting. There I am going to cut them into squares and strips. Since I sometimes make miniature quilts, it's pretty hard to cut up some of these smaller pieces. But most of these textures and/or scale won't work for mini quilts anyway.

Angela, the blog that shows that Christmas Easy Street is smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com. It has a very pretty one to look at and she didn't use the setting triangles.

Change of Plans This Week
This week we are meeting on Thursday due to it being so cold on Tuesday. So bring your stuff and join us.
Here are all my parts for Easy Street. Ready to put mine together. I have never added a pic to a blog before so this is my trial run. Boy, that pink sure looks bright. Not quite that bright in real life!

Sewing Intentions
I had the best of intentions tonight. Due to weather we postponed quilting group until Thursday night. I planned to come home and get busy. But somewhere after having a sandwich and cup of coffee I fell asleep for two hours. So much for sewing tonight. Maybe I won't have Easy Street finished by Thursday.

Easy Street
Well it seems I cannot count. LOL
I still have the 16 blocks to sew together and I am cutting the center purple pieces... I swear I never saw that in the instructions.. Oh well, I needed a break from sitting. Also it seems I need more of the grey and white four patches. But I have decided to go with the flow and piece together as many as I can before cutting any more.
I do have to say I have been on medicines for the last month for flu, bronchitis, sinus infection and trying to keep from getting pneumonia. I am better and going to attempt to return to work tomorrow. It will be hard to go all day without the naps I have become accustom to over the last week. So any miss counting is being blamed on medicines..lol
I have to say I am very pleased with myself to actually get a Bonnie Hunter Mystery this far. You know me, I generally give up when I see the quantity of pieces. But this was great. I might even use the pattern to make my next quilt. Hum...... I'll have to think about that once this one is complete.
Pictures tomorrow...
Happy Sewing,
Angela

Whew! I've finished my "Stacked Baby Blocks" quilt top and will bring it Tuesday night to show. Spent some time since Christmas making a few more pet mats for the animal shelter. Tina from HSO will pick them up today. Now, which project shall I begin next? Thousand Pyramids or Ohio Star? Time will tell.

My Easy Street
Well I had hoped to stay on track thru the holidays but that did not seen to work out for me. I did however get all the steps printed out.
Last night I completed the cutting out of everything. Well i might have to cut some more of the lack on white to get enough bricks. I didn't want to go overboard with cutting. Now to just start sewing on step 4 to the end.
I am so excited to see this come together. I have to admit if I had seen the finished product I would probably never even started. I just love how Bonnie Hunter breaks the steps out to manageable parts so it is not so overwhelming for folks like me. I hate huge quantities of pieces but I love big blocks.
I will post my finished product just as soon as it becomes FINISHED.. ; ~) I am hoping to be able to link the finished top on Monday.. Wish me luck..
