My Little Scrappy Quilt

Cutting 2 1/2" squares on Tuesday nights has already paid off!   I've finished my little scrappy quilt top made with part of those squares.

.  It measures 46 " X 63" and the blocks are 8" square.  I had just enough background fabric to make 17  "X"  blocks.  There are 18 alternating patchwork blocks.  The border is 3" wide.  I'm sure these blocks have a name but I don't know what it is.  I worked on this project at the same time I was working on my Hunter's Star.  I still have to cut and sew the border for the Hunter's Star.  I never tire of working on quilts - such a good way to spend time.   Of course I'm already planning another quilt and actually found enough fabric on hand for everything except the background and I may possibly have that....I just haven't decided what I want for the background yet.  I'm really, really, really trying to use up some of my fabric and scraps.  And there are always those pesky UFO's that I plan to complete someday.
Happy Easter.

Can someone remind me when the quilt retreat is? I know it is in May but can't remember which weekend! Thank you! Sharon

SICK AGAIN

I hope this post finds all of you well.   I am however sick for the umpteenth time since November.  I have the crud again. I have to say FIVE months of this is more than enough of one body to handle.  I am under doctors instructions no work or outside play until Thursday.   Sadly, that means I will not be able to attend quilting tomorrow night.    I can however sew here at home with my own little germs. And that is the plan between napping.

Y'all have fun without me.    But not too much fun....   ;-)

ONE DOWN - HUNDREDS TO GO!

I picked up my Stacked Baby Bricks last Tuesday evening and have finished the binding - it's all done!
I've made 14 Hunter's Star (aka Indian Arrowhead) blocks so far.   I had the indigo blue fabric on hand and used part of my Pickle Patch Gift Certificate to purchase the other fabric.  I'm using the foundation paper piecing technique to help me achieve as much accuracy as possible.  The quilt will have to tell me about a border when I get to that point.  I'll probably hand quilt it so it won't be totally finished for some time.
I tried setting the date/time on my camera and put the date before the month without realizing it so I really took these pics on 03/11/13.   I corrected it after I noticed the error.

Cooking and cleaning surely does interfere with my quilting time - not that I go overboard with cooking or cleaning!  I enjoy cooking but I'm usually anxious to get back to my sewing machine.

This is my second step in Patchwork Times Mystery "Back to Square One." I really like how my colors are looking together. Was a little worried about that dark blue but I think it will be fine in the end. Sharon
