Kitchen Wall Hanging

It is finished and is hanging for a "test" to see how I like it there.   It's made from 1930's reproduction fabrics.  It doesn't have the exact look I was hoping for but I think I might need to "fade" it a little to get a more vintage look.  I machine quilted it - all straight lines!  Overall I'm pretty happy with it. It measures almost 30" X 30".

My first contest entry

I entered my Jelly Roll Surprise in the Quilting Gallery Show and Tell contest, Quilts for Dad/guys.  I think it will be viewable Thursday or Friday.

It is just a top now but someday it will be completed for my DH. I started by adding a 6 inch strip to each of the jelly roll strips, sewed it up with no clue where I would go.  It wasn't large enough like that so I did the me thing. Lol. I folded it up, smoothed it out, laid my 16 inch square on top and cut.  Then I found the tan in my stash, thanks mom, and cut 16 inch blocks, threw it all on the floor to get my design.  I had just a small section of jelly roll from cutting the blocks, so I decided to use it for the top.  In all I ended up with one 6" x 2.5" piece left over.

Initially I was making for my brother, but my hubs saw it and said it was his.  Now to make a back and get it quilted.  Someday......

Excuse the wrinkles. I just unfolded it to take a picture....

Pat Sloan Charm-A-Long

This is the layout options for her workbook.

MY ROW ALONG QUILT TOP

I finished my Row-A-Long quilt top today but I do still have to make the binding strips.   I made substitutions for some of the rows.  I made one row smaller than the original size and then realized that the pieced borders would not fit so I had to make another "filler" row to make everything come out even.  I like the bright colors and think the kitties look like they are sitting on a patchwork quilt.  The kitty row is the one that I had to make to take care of my mistake.  Now I think it may be my favorite row.  All's well that ends well.   I wouldn't mind making another row quilt using colors I more often work with.

Now I want to make a small wallhanging for my kitchen.  Thinking of using a cute appliqued coffee cup and saucer block alternating with a pieced block - maybe a 9-patch or churn dash.   Time will tell.

Happy 46th Anniversary to me and my sweetheart today!

New project

This is what I am working on now.  I am using the Soaked fabric from Connecting Threads.  I have my color fabric cut into strips, just doing some math to see if I have enough white or if a purchase is in my future.  This pattern is from Pat Sloan Charm-A-Long Workbook.

Tuesday Quilting

I will not be at quilting Tuesday night.  I have a doctors appointment in Little Rock.

This might be TMI....But, It's time for the big squeeze.  Ladies do not put it off... I am a 14 year survivor of breast cancer.

Prayers for a friend and community

Please say a prayer and hold up a friend and fellow church family who lost their son yesterday.

Also in the terrible storms we had, many were lost including the neighboring county's sheriff and a game and fish officer, they both were trying to rescue a family from the rising waters.

Water level now and another storm on the way.

This picture is from my hill the fist set of water is the 27 acres in front of us. The second water line is the creek.

This is down our driveway. Where we turn into the field to go to a bridge.

The water was half way up to my knee and I was at the edge.

It may be a few days before we get out.  We will have to wait until the road can be seen. Just to make sure we still have a road and or bridge.

Glad I am on a hill.

Water bound

This was yesterday. Today is much worse. The hubby could not get this far today.

RSC13. January to June

Sewing today

I am finally in my sewing room again.  I haven't been here to sew in a couple months.  I have already my blocks for RSC13 and will post pictures soon.  For now I am pressing leaders and enders.  These are scrap 2.5 squares. Some more many less than size. I am going to make a lap quilt for my father in law who had to go into the nursing home for rehab.  He is the one who fought the tree.....tree won...  He is so lucky be even be alive. Thank GOD for sending angels to watch over him.

We are in southwest Arkansas and are being hammered again by rain.  If you think about it please pay for the Carpenter and Campora families. These two brave men fought hard to resume those trapped by flood waters.  The died HEROS in my book.   There are still missing people and more that did not survive.  Our area needs a break from all this rain and storms.

Hubby and I are flooded in. I'll posts our creek bridge picture as well.    Last night I broke down and closed all the windows and turned the air conditioner on.   We just had to dry up some of the moisture.. My carpet felt damp.  I first thought the dog had an accident..Yuck...  Thank goodness it wasn't that.

What to cook?  I want to through something in the crockpot so I don't have to do anything...

And what is my next sewing project?
